Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, Yoruba activist, has been in the news over his recent comment and actions as regards the Fulani Herdsmen and their operating system over the years. It seems the Government have failed to find a solution to this menace.

He recently gave a seven-day ultimatum to Fulani herders in Ibarapa area of Oyo state, to leave the area, following their frequent killings and insecurity in the state. He became vocal after giving several warnings to the right quarters, to find a lasting solution to the menace.

Some call him political thug, as he worked with former Oyo state Governor, Rasheed Ladoja, which he became one of his most trusted aides. He is said to possess metaphysical powers, which is kind of obvious from a picture that a surfaced online, where a slight show of cowry can be seen hanging on his neck and his irregular posture, while addressing some of his followers at Ibarapa, on Sunday.

It seems the government are playing with fire with the way the herdsmen issue is been handled. For over two years and running, the group have been involved in killings, raising security concerns and most oppositions relate the seemingly uncontrollable situation with the fact that the president is a Fulani man and he is protecting his own, at the expense of other. Given that the nation is not secured and there is a group terrorizing the livelihood of her citizen and it all look as if nothing is been done, gave Igboho the voice to take his own security and that of his people into his hand.

At the early stage, it still seems controllable, if not checked, the worse might happen. Ever since the Civil War, the government have been trying to avoid same situation, again. Why the IPOB was met with suppressing force, which has left the supposed leader of the movement staying away from the country for months, after spending years in Nigerian prison. Nigeria seems to be on a tilt, sitting on a ticking bomb, waiting to explode at any time, with a slight opportunity. We have a situation in our hands, but it looks like all is well, especially how various quarters have deafened their ears to it.

What will be of us, if eventually Igboho put his words to action? National security no longer national, which gave birth to regional securities (Eastern Security Network, Amotekun…). The people see the need to protect themselves from this rampaging groups, seeking to render people homeless and sending mass to their graves. Igboho, seem to be leading the defence line for the South Westerners, as it is looking like the security network is being politicized. In one of his interviews, he said the government should do theirs, while they also do their own job in protecting the Yoruba nation, as the government seem incapacitated to do so, against the herdsmen.

With the recent easing of his building in Ibadan by arsonists, it seem the battle line have just been drawn.

Do you think Igboho have an ulterior motive or he is fighting for the interest of the Yoruba nation?
